This mural was painted in Trnava, Slovakia—a beautiful city often called "Little Rome" for its many churches and rich religious traditions. This past summer, people here faced unusually intense heat, an unsettling reminder of how climate change is reshaping our world. In the mural, the Ark stands alone in the desert waiting for a flood that may never come. The self made cabin on a boat is a reminder of the resilience it takes to keep preparing, even when things seem out of place. In Noah’s story, the ark was built to protect life, but here it stands alone, ready, with only a single bone nearby.
Though our efforts may sometimes feel late or misplaced, there’s bravery in not giving up. Like a boat in the desert, we’re still here, adapting, and hoping, ready to face whatever comes our way.
